Case number 19255
Primary Investigator: John Michael Kledis
Secondary Investigator: Robert Coley, ASD
Location: Leasburg, North Carolina
Date of Event: September 11, 2009
On 9-12-09 a CAT 3 Star team Deployment in Leasburg, North Carolina, was authorized and John Michael Kledis was assigned as lead investigator. Robert Coley (ASD North Carolina) was secondary investigator. I accompanied investigators and videotaped the witness's interview. (The following contains excerpts taken from the original case report written by John Kledis and Robert Coley)
Background: This Sighting report was received on Case Management System (CMS) September 12, 2009. Case was submitted by the primary witness soon after midnight. The Primary witness owns and operates an auto body shop next to his home. He is married and lives with his wife and son who is a minor. The event occurred late evening of September 11, 2009 to early morning of September 12, 2009.

- 9:00 – 11:30PM The son of the primary witness was camping in the back yard for the first time with a neighbor (child) and the neighbor’s mother. The witness has two dogs chained in his backyard. They had started barking. This prompted him to check on his son and see what was causing his dogs excitement. He did so and found his son was asleep in the tent.
- 11:45 – 12:15PM The witness walked back to his house and was on his back porch when he turned around and saw a large black triangle in the sky about 150 feet (AGL) above his back yard. (See Picture 1) The triangle object spanned the entire length of his back yard (measured at 125 feet) with one point of the triangle facing the witness. The object was motionless, hovering, making no sound, and displayed the image of the sky above it on the bottom of it. The witness noted that he could see the stars on the bottom of the object, and could see the clear outline of the triangle due to the external house lighting and neighborhood lights. It initially had orange lights on the points of the triangle.
- According to witness testimony, behind the large triangle object were four smaller objects, each emitting their own sourced lights of various changing colors (ranging from orange to yellow). Of the four smaller objects, one was star like, one was round, and two were egg shaped. These objects were about 8-10 feet in size. They were moving (up and down pattern) away from the large triangle object, going down into the woods behind his back yard (yard has a grassy area of 75 yards from the house to a wooded tree line).
- The smaller objects appeared to descend into the woods, behind the tree line (out of the witness line of sight) for 2-3 seconds, then go back up to the large triangle object in the sky. The witness stated that no propulsion source was evident.

- The witness told investigators that he observed this for approximately 4 minutes. He noted that he was scared and in a state of excitement. He went into his house to get his handheld DVD video recorder (which he used earlier that day with no malfunctions). The witness came back out to Video the objects but his DVD recorder did not work (as if the batteries were dead). The camera worked the next day without recharge or new batteries.
- At this point the witness went back into his house and got his spotlight (one million candle power) to shine on the large triangle to improve his vision of the object. (See Picture 3)

Picture 3: The spotlight used by the witness to shine on the large triangle.
- According to witness testimony, when he pointed his spotlight beam onto the large triangle, it appeared to absorb the light from his spotlight. Almost immediately, the triangle object projected an intense bluish white light (emitting from the front center of the triangle) onto him for about 3 seconds. The witness turned his back, and ducked his head protecting his body in a cower position to shield from the bright light. The witness described the beam as an intense heat and burning sensation from the light. After that, the witness went back into his house and watched through his window.
- The smaller objects started to move slowly in a South by Southwest direction, remaining in view of the witness. The witness then went to the MUFON website and reported the sighting. As he made the report, he was still able to see the objects from his window. The witness then observed two of the surrounding smaller objects leave at an incredible speed, going out of sight in an upward direction.
- The larger triangle object was also moving away very slowly. The witness used a range finder to take a fix on it. The object registered on the range finder at 400 feet distance.
- Soon after this the witness observed the larger triangle object rotate up on its end so that the witness saw it edge on, facing strait up and down. From his vantage point, it looked like a black rod with the two smaller objects still beside it. All three objects were about 600 feet away before they suddenly shot strait up and out of sight.
During the remainder of Friday night the witness started to feel very sick and could not sleep at all.

Saturday the witness had a burn on his neck resembling sunburn (See Picture 2) and was extremely sick and nauseous all day. He told investigators that he attempted to vomit but could not. He stated that he laid around on the couch most of the day. The witness stated that he had a continuous metallic taste in his mouth like copper pennies. His neck and shoulders were tender to the touch.

- 4:00 pm MUFON investigators contacted the witness on Saturday afternoon. The phone interview lasted about 45 minutes and he agreed that MUFON Investigators could come to meet with him to conduct an interview and a sight investigation as soon as possible.

- 2:00 AM The witness was disturbed by several low flying helicopters around his house, one of which coming very low and near his house. He could see out his window about 5 helicopters with some in the distance having white search lights. The witness woke up his wife who confirmed the helicopters. He attempted to videotape these helicopters but user error prevented this.
Unidentified Men: The witness was awakened at 7:00AM by two men, who arrived unannounced and unexpected early on Sunday morning, knocking on his door. His wife had gone to work that morning at 5:00 AM, and his son was in bed asleep.
- The men advised him they wanted to talk to him about his "sighting report". The men were driving a full size black Ford, late model four door sedan, with white plates. (No plate number observed) The witness invited them to come in and sit in the living room.
- According to the witness, the older man who identified himself as “Mr. Michael” was in his 40's, did all of the talking and initiated all of the questioning. The younger man did not talk, he just sat and stared at the witness during the entire time.
- The older man was wearing a black suit, white shirt, and black tie with very shiny polished shoes. The witness described him as having a very pale complexion with dark gray hair. The younger man appeared to be in his late 30's and was similarly dressed wearing a black suit and a blue shirt with dark hair. They were both over six foot tall (estimated weight approximate 200 pounds) and did not have facial hair. The witness indicated they did not talk like people native to North Carolina.
- At no time did either of these two men produce any identification, say whom they represented, or introduce themselves, other than the older man who identified himself only as “Mr. Michael”
- The two men questioned the witness and talked to him for approximately 30 minutes about his sighting report. During this time they took notes and drew pictures. They also asked about the helicopters from the previous night.
- The witness noted that they seemed to lose interest when it was revealed that no photographs were obtained. Upon their departure the younger man told the witness to not mention the sighting to anyone else. The witness felt demeaned and threatened by their visit.
Later that afternoon, our MUFON investigator contacted the witness by phone to confirm an appointment for a meeting later in the week. The witness was confused because he thought that that the men in the morning interview were MUFON representatives. The men never showed identification or nor did the witness ask who they were, because he assumed they were from MUFON.
- 5 – 6 PM A second helicopter came low by his house and circled the area. The witness managed to get this helicopter on videotape. (See Picture 4)

Summary: The investigators did not notice any major contradictions in the witnesses testimony, nor did the witness appear to falter in any of the questions of detail. The investigators questioned for the possibility of lost time, an altered state, or unexplained psychic displacement, without any indication of such, evident from the witness testimony.
- This Investigation yields a reliance primarily on a single witness testimony of events.
- Independent evidence was a video of the helicopter and burns on the neck of the witness.
- Natural phenomenon was ruled out as a possibility because of the proximity to the witness, movement patterns, and contact/effects of the witness.
- Animal effects were noted in the dog’s awareness of the objects, the defensive posturing, and barking. The witness stated that the dogs were barking on their hind legs, looking up, with the chain pulled tight.
- The local newspaper "The Courier Times" did not have any reports of a similar occurrence at the time of this report.
- Both local sheriff’s offices, in the area were contacted and did not reveal any reports of a similar occurrence at the time and date of this event.
- A radiological survey was conducted and readings in the affected area were consistent with the background readings in the unaffected control area.
- An electromagnetic survey was conducted and readings in the affected area were consistent with the background readings in the unaffected control area.
- A visual survey of the sighting area was conducted by the investigators in the yard and adjacent wooded area. No apparent signs of impressions, damage to foliage, discolorations, or other phenomenon caught the attention of the investigator to be of relevance.
